topic reflection

What would be the best topic for the exam:

  • “Softcare”: Software for ECG analysis, and stuff like that
  • “Social Media beyond Facebook”: Diaspora …
  • “computational fluid dynamics”: too large theme, I guess
  • “visualization and evaluation of networks”: Gephi (posted before)

    I don’t know yet! What would be the best for the verbal exam in IT (with presentation)?

    so is it a written or an oral exam for IT?

    in my opinion “visualization and evaluation of networks” would be an extremely interesting subject to focus on, thinking of the analysis of swarm-behavior and the new type of civil society based on social networks. but it’s a quite large theme i’d say, and for my point, i’m not even quite fit with gephi at all… but in a context of sociology and politics i’d love to have a qualified insight to that.

    the second pretty interesting theme would be “Softcare”, as it might be a powerful tool for supporting medical care and diagnosis solutions to low-economic areas and NPOs without the purpose to raise enormous funds to buy corporate-built machines, so money could be spent on food and medicine-products that would be more urgently needed.

    but there is a question left on the whole decisionmaking process you are in at the moment: do you really think it’s necessary to have such an sophisticated approach in topic-finding for your exam, wouldn’t it be enough of work to use a less academic-like approach?

    i could also get you a whole fucking lot of papers and books on the topic of “robotic and cyber warfare” if you would be interested in it. that could cut your need to research on slim-to-none level

    well the exam is written and oral. The written part will be Photoshop, html and stuff like that. The oral part will be a presentation of a theme we can “freely” choose.
    The network theme is realy the best!
    Softcare is an neologism: with this theme I only want to show up how software cares about humans (how does an ECG work, which software it needs, why defis know what an VT/VF is, and so on)

    Yes it is necessary to have an sophisticated theme, other themes would bore me out 🙂

    I guess I ask the teacher which theme would suit him fine, because he is the one how formulates the questions afterwards…

    within the softcare theme, i was thinking about low-budget software/hardware solutions, like having an USB-device with software to use as ECG, instead needing to buy a set-up from a top-level retailer…

    well that will never happen, medical device retailer wouldn’t like that, and what the FDA is thinking about that, hm…
